Another one that has been showing up on a lot of lists is Vanessa Davis's Make Me a Woman. Scott Pilgrim might in fact suffer from blockbuster syndrome, where it's time of glory is considered summer sales rather than fall awards (especially true prior to there being 10 spots for best picture). I think many people will forget it came out only a few months ago.

I also think the impetus for releases around this time is for holiday shopping (which is of course tied up around the best of year lists). Look how Footnotes in Gaza didn't make it on to so many lists because of a late release.MC Nedelskynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8026774725178592968.post-4779889351601483742010-12-04T20:55:04.948-05:002010-12-04T20:55:04.948-05:00GN Oscar season indeed... thanks for a reminder .....GN Oscar season indeed... thanks for a reminder .. some truly excellent books and as always...really looking forward to the year end best of list for 2010

cheersAKhttp://www.librarything.com/profile/IamAleemnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8026774725178592968.post-10463904855259089242010-10-15T19:45:28.993-04:002010-10-15T19:45:28.993-04:00Some great choices. Right now The Outfit is at the top of my list, but I could see Chris Ware or Charles Burns knocking it off. Definitely a great season.

By the way, great site.
